Counseling for the military spouse by the military spouse

Hearing “You get it” when another military spouse reads my Professional Disclosure Statement helps make all the sacrifice I have made supporting my husband’s career more meaningful. The military spouse understands supporting your spouse through countless deployments and solo-parenting through the child bearing years is not for the faint of heart. Even though a military spouse may be “built different” and equipped to carry such a heavy load, it does not come without times of grief, loneliness, overwhelm and exhaustion. As tough as supporting your active duty spouse is, supporting your veteran comes with it’s own set of challenges too.

If you are a part of a chronic stress community where you have become all too familiar with living a life of unknowns, I see you.

When being told “you knew what you signed up for” does not land quite right. Or, “I did not think separating from the military would be this hard”, I hear you.

When the pride of being able to be superwoman and do it all loses its appeal, I feel you.

Imagine dealing with all the above and then throw in another curve ball like a move, frustrations from putting your career on hold, health issues, a natural disaster, or parenting challenges, it makes sense you might not know how to cope with it all at the moment, If you are feeling hopeless, stuck or ready to throw in the towel, it is time to call in reinforcements! If you are living in North Carolina and looking for therapy by someone who gets it, I invite you to reach out and give me a call.

Asking for help when you need it most takes courage and is a sign of strength. Hey there, everything I described above is part of my lived experience. My Army Special Forces husband and I are now seven years into being separated from the military and I waited to create a space for other military spouses until I felt I had walked through these challenges too and they were not “too close to home.” One phrase you will hear me say is “use your resources”. I am so glad I used mine and if I can be a resource to you, please do not hesitate to reach out by calling/texting 828-202-5025, emailing csias@counselingheart.com or complete the secure form below.
